WITNESSES are:

  • Anyone who saw, heard, or was present during a violent incident or crime.
  • Anyone who tried intervene to resolve the situation or to help the victim.
  • Anyone, (even if they were not present for the incident), who has knowledge of what happened through contact or a close relationship with the involved parties (in this case, the victim and/or the offender).

WITNESSING a crime can be a disturbing experience. There are witnesses who have reactions and feelings very similar to those of crime victims.
