Universités Européennes contre le Racisme et les Discriminations | Paris, 30th October - 2nd November
APAV atended Universités Européennes contre le Racisme et les Discriminations, hosted by Maison des Potes, in Paris, between the October 30th and November 2nd.
The event intended to reach the civil society, national and european deputies regarding the fight against discrimination.

APAV launches the second Newsletter of project PROVICTIMS
APAV presents the second edition of project PROVICTIMS’ digital newsletter. The project which aims to promote the role of the prosecutor in ensuring the rights of victims of crime, has been running since October 2018 and this Newsletter brings to light the activities that were implemented by APAV and its partners.
The project is co-financed by the Justice Program of the European Union and counts with the national partnerships of the Centro de Investigação de Direito Penal e Ciências Criminais da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa (Research Center for Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon) and the Attorney General's Office. Also involved in this project are White Circle Croatia and the Basque Country Institute for Social Reintegration, two organizations which provide support to victims of crime, as well as the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, a human rights organization based in Dublin, Ireland.

Attorneys from the State of California (USA) visit APAV
On the morning of September 16th 2019, a group of 15 attorneys from the State of California, USA, visited APAV’s headquarters in Lisbon. The group of attorneys will spend the week visiting different parts of the country on a trip organized by CLE Abroad, a provider of personalized educational travel programs.
The visit to Portugal began at APAV with a guided tour of the Lisbon Victim Support Office followed by a presentation on the Portuguese criminal proceedings and the victim’s role. The visit ended with a discussion session during which the participants had the opportunity to pose questions about the Portuguese legal framework, the implementation of victims' rights and APAV's work. APAV would like to thank all attorneys present for their interest in the Association’s work and to CLE Abroad for providing this unique opportunity as well as for the contribution it made to APAV in the end of the visit.
We wish the whole group a pleasant stay in Portugal.
Regional Policy Meetings | The Hage, 26th-27th September
On September 26th-27th, there occurred in The Hague, Netherlands, the Regional policy meetings, promoted in partnership with REDRESS and Fair Trials.
The encounters addressed the subjects of the victims’ rights in pre trial detention and immigration centers.
João Lázaro represented the Victim Support Europe and André Carpinelli represented APAV.
