Victims have the right to receive free and confidential support, before, during and after the criminal proceedings.
If you are or you were the victim of a crime, police and judicial authorities should inform you about the support services available in your community and how you can contact them.
The Portuguese Association for Victim Support (Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vítima, APAV) provides emotional, practical, psychological, legal, and social support to all victims of crime and their families and/or friends.
Support is free of charge and confidential. If you do not want to, you do not have to tell us your name to request help.
We are available to support and inform you, even if you have not filed a report or complaint for the crime of which you are or were the victim.
