The role of the defendant’s attorney is to defend the defendant’s rights in the criminal proceedings.
Anyone who is a defendant in a criminal process has the right to be be assisted by a defence attorney.
The defendant’s lawyer takes an active role in the process by:
• Presenting or Requesting the collection of evidence.
• Questioning the accused, the witnesses, and the victim.
• Appealing against the decisions they do not agree with.
